Sheriff's Blotter: Man on Immigration Hold Following Arrest

Deputies arrested Gustavo Colin, 23, on suspicion of a felony allegation of throwing substances at a moving vehicle near Faith Avenue at MacKinnon Avenue. The incident, originally dispatched as a discharge of a firearm, was reported at 1:40 p.m. on Sept. 21 by a victim whose name was withheld in the report. No injuries or damage was reported. A rifle was reportedly recovered when the man was arrested. Jail records show he is on an immigration hold at the George Bailey Detention Facility in San Diego with a court appearance set for Oct. 4 in San Diego County Superior Court in Vista. In addition to the felony allegation, he faces misdemeanor allegations of reckless driving, drunken driving and driving on a suspended license.

  • Deputies arrested Tranquilino Mentado, 47, on suspicion of misdemeanor battery after they were called to the 800 block of Clark Avenue at 12:20 a.m. Sept. 26.
  • Sean Hoyt, 40, was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant and suspicion of public drunkenness after deputies were called to the 100 block of South Coast Highway 101 at 12:35 p.m. on Sept. 26.
  • A 21-year-old man identified as Abdullah Azizi was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and driving with .01 percent or more blood alcohol content while on probation for DUI after a traffic stop at West D Street at South Coast Highway 101 shortly before 3 a.m. Sept. 25.
  • Gregory White, 36, was arrested on suspicion of felony false imprisonment at 9:46 p.m. on Sept. 23 following a complaint by a victim whose identity was withheld. The alleged offense was reported in the 600 block of Nardo Road, according to a report.
  • A 41-year-old woman reported her purse was snatched at 1:35 p.m. on Sept. 22 in the 200 block of North El Camino Real. No suspect information was listed.

  • Christine Gehring, 40, was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant and on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia after deputies were called to investigate a report of unknown trouble in the 1500 block of Rancho Encinitas Drive at 8:11 p.m. on Sept. 22.
  • Two people were arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of drugs after deputies were called to investigate a report of a suspicious person at East I Street at South Vulcan Avenue shortly before 10 a.m. on Sept. 21. The suspects were identified as Emily Magnuson, 25, and David Wayne II, 26.
  • Norma Mentado, 27, was arrested on a probation violation, suspicion of drunken driving, and driving with .01 percent or more blood alcohol content while on probation for DUI following a traffic stop at 12:13 a.m. Sept. 20 near the 600 block of South Coast Highway 101.
  • Two men were arrested on felony probation violations by deputies sent to the 400 block of South Coast Highway 101 at 2:35 p.m. on Sept. 20. The suspects were identified as Farzad Daftari, 21, and Richard Stewart, 36.
  • Deputies arrested Alexis Hernandez, 19, on suspicion of felony commercial burglary, and misdemeanors of possessing controlled substances without a prescription and possession of burglary tools at 7:48 p.m. on Sept. 20 after deputies were called to the Target at 1000 North El Camino Real.
  • Kris Abbott, 38, was arrested on suspicion of felony battery after a victim whose name was not released reported a minor injury in the 600 block of Melba Road at 12:37 a.m. Sept. 18
