Sheriff's Blotter: Manager Arrested on Suspicion of Embezzlement

Items of note from the desk of the Encinitas station of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department as of March 22.

  • A Best Buy manager was arrested on suspicion of embezzlement in the 1000 block of North El Camino Real during the evening of March 18, according to a report at the Encinitas station of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. Jordan Soder, 27, is alleged to have committed the offense from Feb. 26 to March 12. The amount of currency involved was reported at $1,266.88. Soder was booked into the County Jail in Vista following his arrest.
  • A home in the 1300 block of Ravean Court was reported burglarized on the afternoon of March 8. The victims, a couple in their 60s, reported the loss of numerous valuables such as expensive watches, rings and other jewelry. The total value of the items was set at approximately $89,000. No suspect information was listed.
  • A home was burglarized in the 800 block of Requeza Street, according to a report filed March 13. The victims reported the theft of jewelry, watches and cash. The total value of the items was set at more than $28,000.
  • A bicycle and power tools were reported stolen in the 400 block of North Willowspring Drive on the afternoon of March 21. The 26-year-old male victim valued the stolen items at $2,500. No suspect information was listed.
  • Two men in their 20s reported being the victims of a vehicle break-in along the 200 block of South El Camino Real on the morning of March 21. They reported the loss of a computer, backpacks, cellular telephones, credit cards, IDs and other items with a total value of more than $2,500. No suspect information was reported.
  • A vehicle reported as stolen was recovered in the 1200 block of Eolus Avenue on the morning of March 20. The white four-door sedan, valued at $8,000, belonged to a woman in her 70s, according to a report. No suspect information was listed and no arrests were reported.
  • A vehicle was reported vandalized in the 1300 block of North Vulcan Avenue on the morning of March 20. The 24-year-old victim set the damage at $750. No suspect information was listed in the report.
  • A television was reported stolen from a mortgage bank in the 700 block of Garden View Court on the morning of March 20. Coldwell Banker valued the stolen set at $1,490. No suspect information was listed.
  • Bicycles were reported stolen from a home in the 300 block of East Glaucus Street on the morning of March 20. The bikes were described as a dark blue San Rafael and a silver Novara with a total value of $900. No suspect information was listed.
  • A 58-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary after taking food from two businesses near the intersection of N. El Camino Real and Encinitas Boulevard around noon on March 20. Yorma Braun was booked into the County Jail in Vista after authorities recovered the food and other miscellaneous consumable goods. The victims were identified in the report as Hissho Sushi and CVS.  Braun was arrested without incident, according to the report.
  • Deputies were called to a report of a battery in the 500 block of South Coast Highway 101 on the evening of March 20. The victim, a 37-year-old man, was reportedly found unconscious following the dispatch. His subsequent injuries were described as minor. No suspect information was listed.
  • Auto parts valued at more than $1,000 were reported stolen during a burglary in the 1700 block of North Vulcan avenue on the morning of March 7. The report was taken via cellular telephone, according to a report. No suspect information was listed.
  • Coins and cash were reported stolen after a report of a "hot prowl" in the 1600 block of Pacific Ranch Drive on the morning of March 18. The total value of the loss was set at $485. No suspect information was listed in the report.
  • Ramon Fuentes, 21, was arrested on an outstanding felony warrant in the 900 block of Melba Road during the early morning hours of March 17. The nature of the warrant was not detailed in the report. He was arrested without incident and booked into the County Jail in Vista, the report stated.
  • Robert Earnest III, 23, was booked into the County Jail in downtown San Diego on suspicion of misdemeanor battery in the 2100 block of Carol View Drive during the early morning hours of March 17. The incident involved a 22-year-old female victim who sustained a minor injury, according to a report. Earnest was also booked on suspicion of being drunk in public.
  • Two paintings valued at more than $6,000 were reported stolen from a business in the 600 block of North Vulcan Avenue on the afternoon of March 17. A consulting group reporting the theft believes the paintings were taken sometime between March 16 around 3:30 p.m. and March 17 around 7:30 a.m. No suspect information was listed.
  • Some $5,000 in cash was reported stolen from a home in the 1000 block of North Vulcan Avenue on the evening of March 17. The 27-year-old female victim reported the loss of cash in addition to checks which have since been recovered, according to the report. 
  • A 23-year-old man was arrested following reports of a disturbance in the 100 block of Encinitas Boulevard shortly after midnight on March 15. Alex Gallegos was booked into the County Jail in Vista on misdemeanor battery and false imprisonment. The victim, a 21-year-old woman, sustained a minor injury during the incident.
  • A traffic stop led to the arrest of a 36-year-old man on drug and child cruelty allegations on the evening of March 14 near the intersection of north Rancho Santa Fe and 11th Street. Christopher Duffy, who listed his occupation as laborer, was booked into the County Jail in Vista on one felony, possession of narcotic controlled substances. He also faces misdemeanor allegations of being under the influence of controlled substances, possessing drug paraphernalia, drunken driving and child cruelty. The child, whose name and age were not released, was not injured, according to a report.
  • A trespassing call led to the arrest of a burglary suspect in the 1900 block of Misty Circle shortly after midnight on March 14. The suspect, identified as William Aguilar, 29, was booked into the County Jail in Vista on suspicion of felony burglary and false impersonation.
  • Miquel Jose, 25, was arrested on suspicion of a felony allegation of battery on a spouse/cohabitant in the 1100 block of Regal Road during the evening of March 14. The victim sustained a minor injury, according to a report. Jose was booked into the County Jail in Vista after his arrest at 11:45 p.m., according to a report.
  • A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a felony allegation of battery on a spouse/cohabitant in the 700 block of West Solana Circle during the early morning hours of March 13. David Schermerhorn was booked into the County Jail in Vista shortly before 2 a.m. The victim sustained a minor injury, according to the report. 
  • A vehicle was reported vandalized in the 400 block of Encinitas Boulevard on the morning of March 13. Damage to the vehicle, owned by a 56-year-old woman, was set at $3,000. No suspect information was listed.
  • The 76 gas station in the 200 block of North El Camino Real reported damage during the afternoon of March 13. The case is reportedly being investigated as a case of graffiti tracking and damage was set at less than $400.
  • Kevin Rolan, 19, was arrested on suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of a minor following a traffic stop during the early morning hours of March 12 near the intersection of Third and West C streets. The man's vehicle was stopped around 12:30 a.m. and two minors, whose names were not released, were with him at the time. Rolan was subsequently booked into the County Jail in Vista on the above allegation, in addition to suspicion of drunken driving.
  • A 51-year-old man reported the theft of two bicycles in the 400 block of Encinitas Boulevard on the morning of March 12. The victim valued the stolen bikes at $75. No suspect information was listed.
