An argument at resulted in a stabbing early Sunday morning, leaving two men wounded.
The men told deputies they got into an argument with another man in the bathroom around midnight, according to a report from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. Both parties left the bar and the fight continued outside on the street.
The victims, both 23-year-old men, suffered slash wounds to their torsos. One man was treated at the scene and the other was transferred to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla. Neither had life-threatening injuries, said detective Robert Stevenson of the Encinitas Sheriff’s Station.
Eyewitnesses told deputies that two suspects, a man and a woman, drove off in a car together, and they were able to provide descriptions and the license plate number. They also said that the female driver nearly hit the victims with the car as it sped away.
Deputies found the car at the registered owner's home, and inside they arrested the suspects, 34-year-old Jose Villanueva and his live-in girlfriend 23-year-old Jacqueline Albrecht. Villanueva was charged with assault for using a knife as a deadly weapon—and Albrecht was charged with assault for using a car as a deadly weapon.
Stevenson said the feuding parties did not know each other, and he is still investigating what started the fight. Anyone with more information is asked to call Stevenson at 760-966-3558 or email him at Robert.Stevenson@sdsheriff.org.
