Suspect in String of Car Burglaries Arrested after Undercover Operation

Javier Rodriguez, 37, is linked to at least 11 other car burglaries in the Encinitas area.

Friday, Oct. 14, arrested 37-year-old Javier Rodriguez for vehicle burglary. The arrest was the result of an undercover operation involving Encinitas Sheriff's Station detectives and a crime analysis unit covering several coastal areas in Encinitas that had been targeted by thieves breaking into cars.

At the time of the arrest, Rodriguez was thought to be involved in several other vehicle burglaries in Encinitas. A subsequent search of Rodriguez’s residence in National City confirmed the detectives’ suspicions, as stolen property was discovered linking Rodriguez to at least 11 other vehicle burglaries in the Encinitas area. The investigation is ongoing.
