Deputies arrested two suspected drunken or drugged drivers and issued 17 citations at a checkpoint in Encinitas that wrapped up early Sunday, sheriff's officials said.
Nearly 790 vehicles passed through the checkpoint in the 1200 of South Coast Highway 101 between 8 p.m. Saturday and 1:30 a.m. today, according to sheriff's Deputy Brenda Sipley.
Two suspected drunken or drugged drivers were arrested, 17 citations were issued for vehicle code violations and four vehicles were stored, Sipley said.

The checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
