Caught on Camera: Hit-and-Run Reported Near Shooting

The vehicle incident happened as deputies investigated a deadly shooting in Olivenhain.

Leaving the scene of an accident is a bad idea. It's an even worse idea to attempt it a few feet from law enforcement personnel and news crews. 

A driver in Olivenhain appeared to have hit a parked truck and fled Thursday morning in front of San Diego Sheriff’s Department volunteers and a number of news crews that were covering a nearby shooting.

A white Subaru—with the California license plates 5JIX746—appeared to have rear-ended a truck on the 2900 block of Lone Jack road, backed up and drove off.

Various drivers had stopped on the blind curve to ask news crews what the commotion was.

News crews caught the vehicle on camera. A motorcycle deputy later came and investigated the collision.

No injuries were reported.
