2012 General Election Guide for Encinitas

As we look ahead to November’s general election, Encinitas Patch is devoted to bringing you the information you need about every race in town. Here's our start on the candidates and issues we'll be covering as November draws near.

President Barack Obama has visited San Diego County in the run-up to the election. Republican candidate Mitt Romney has ties to La Jolla, and a Patch columnist thinks he can win.

In the 76th Assembly District race, former Oceanside Councilman Rocky Chavez and longtime state legislator aide Sherry Hodges will face off to represent Encinitas, Carlsbad and Oceanside.

Steve Danon, chief of staff to Rep. Brian Bilbray, and deputy mayor of Solana Beach Dave Roberts will race to succeed San Diego County District 3 Supervisor Pam Slater-Price.

The Encinitas City Council seats belonging to Councilmen , and Mayor will also be up for grabs this election cycle. has said that he does not plan to run for re-election. and have not publicly stated their plans. Candidates and have already started their campaigns.
