Occupy North County Says It Had No Relation to Incident at Rep. Issa’s Office

Rep. Issa publicly named the group as being present just before there was a threat made warning of an explosive device.

Thursday, Dec. 1, staff at the district office for US Rep. Darrel Issa (R-Vista) reported that someon had called and claimed there was an explosive device outside the building. Authorities responded to the call and determined there was no actual danger.

In a public statement following the incident, Rep. Issa said the incident happened shortly after a protest outside of his office involving “individuals associated with MoveOn.org and Occupy North County as well as individuals participating in a counter protest.”

Members of Occupy North County say their group was in no way involved and want to set the record straight. The group, which frequently holds , sent out a news release with the following points:

“1) Occupy North County has never organized or planned or attended a meeting at Darrel Issa’s office. 2) Occupy North County does not condone the use of violence, threats of violence, or pranks. 3) Occupy North County condemns the thoughtless and unfortunate actions of those who caused the incident at Representative Darrel Issa’s office Thursday.”

Occupy North County was founded Oct. 15, 2011, and group members describe it as “a grassroots organization that has joined with fellow Occupiers to protest the moneyed corruption of American democracy that is destroying our economy.”
