IT Supervisor Matias Labarrere says, “We wanted to facilitate a pleasant and productive experience for customers while they are at City Hall.”
He notes, “In addition, the technology will greatly reduce Emergency Operations Center activation times in an emergency. On an everyday basis, wireless supports smartphone and tablet applications used by City staff.”
Some Benefits and Uses
- Customers can access relevant data while they converse with counter staff or attend a meeting.
- They can conveniently access the City website and other sites to download forms, applications and related information.
- People also can check their email, access their social networking accounts and even see what’s for sale on eBay.
Next up: WiFi will be installed at the Encinitas Community and Senior Center. For information, please contact Matias Labarrere.
More New Technology: A Big, Beautiful Projector!
The next time you’re at the Civic Center, in addition to using WiFi, take a minute to check out the new projector in Council Chambers. The City has doubled the viewing space by replacing the old 61-inch plasma TV with a rear projector boasting a 123-inch screen.
Before the upgrade, City Council meeting attendees often had a difficult time viewing presentations, especially detail-laden financial data. The new projector displays presentations in high definition, resulting in a crisper, more detailed image.–City of Encinitas
