Less Sand to be Ordered For Encinitas Beaches

The city orignally proposed a massive sand replenishment project but has scaled back to a proposal that is about half as much.

Encinitas is cutting back on massive beach sand replenishment project in an effort to win state Coastal Commission approval in November after a proposal this summer was rejected, reported the U-T San Diego.

Encinitas is looking to get 340,000 cubic yards of sand, or about half what it originally proposed.

The issue was voted on and discussed at the Encinitas city council meeting this week.
