Leucadia 101 Main Street became a designated Certified California Main Street Friday, the organization announced.

The designation was nine years in the making. In 2003, Leucadia 101 became a non-profit, but was unable to become an official Main Street organization because of California budget cuts, according to the organization.

Leucadia 101 runs various programs to preserve the historic nature of the community as well as the Leucadia Farmers Market.
