Roberts Earns Endorsements in County Supervisor Race

Earlier this month Solana Beach Deputy Mayor Dave Roberts , and this week he received endorsements from California State Senator Christine Kehoe (D) and Carlsbad Mayor Pro Tem Ann Kulchin (R).

Both San Diego-based elected officials said their endorsements were largely based on his track record, which includes two terms on the Solana Beach City Council, and experience as a board member for San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG), the San Dieguito River Valley Park, the San Diego County Consolidated Transportation Services Agency, and a past stint with the San Dieguito River Valley Park Joint Powers Authority. 

"I have known Dave Roberts for many years and watched him work in a bipartisan manner to find real solutions to real problems," said Kehoe in a news release. "Dave has the right experience, energy and vision to work for a better quality of life for the residents of the Third District. He will work to create jobs, protect the environment and will lead the way in good land use planning.  He will seamlessly fill the open seat on the San Diego County Board of Supervisors."

"Dave Roberts has the proven financial background, coupled with his long-term business leadership, to provide the experience we need on the Board of Supervisors,” Kulchin said. "He has worked tirelessly on the Executive Committee of North County Transit District to lower fares and expand public transit service.  In addition, he has worked to help balance his city's budget seven years in a row without cuts to services."

Roberts, who has lived in San Diego County nearly 20 years, said he very much welcomed the endorsements.

"I am proud of this endorsement by two highly regarded elected officials," Roberts said. "When I launched my campaign for County Supervisor, I promised to work in a bipartisan fashion with all leaders to improve our region's quality of life. Having the early support of two of the most respected regional leaders such as Senator Kehoe and Mayor Pro Tem Kulchin demonstrates my strong determination to provide personalized service for all constituents in the County."

"I plan to work hard to balance the county's budget, maintain strong reserves, protect county infrastructure and continue the fine financial work of the county board of supervisors," Roberts said. "Quality of life means many things. But among them is that county government must lead by example and live within its means."

Roberts also works an expert in health care policy and was appointed in both the Bush and the Obama Administrations to national advisory leadership roles focused on maximizing the cost-effectiveness and delivery of Medicare, Medicaid and children's health insurance programs. He has also adopted five children from the County, who range from ages 3 to 16.
