The longtime city fire employee also heads Joint Fire Management Services Agreement.

Editor’s Note: The following is a news release from the city of Encinitas.

Scott Henry, a 31-year Encinitas Fire Department employee, has been appointed Encinitas Fire Chief. He replaces former Fire Chief Mark Muir, who was to fill the position left vacant by the death of Councilwoman Maggie Houlihan.

In addition to overseeing day-to-day operations of the 62-employee, five-station Fire Department whose services encompass fire suppression, fire prevention, disaster preparedness and marine safety, Chief Henry provides operational oversight for emergency services of the cities of Solana Beach and Del Mar under a Joint Fire Management Services Agreement. The Agreement was established in 2009 to improve supervisory effectiveness, communications, response times, productivity and financial efficiencies. It was recently awarded the prestigious San Diego Taxpayers Association Golden Watchdog Award for improving public safety while saving taxpayer dollars.
