Solana Beach Councilman Roberts Enters County Supervisor Race

If elected, he would be the first Democrat on the panel since at least 1995.

Solana Beach City Councilman Dave Roberts filed paperwork today that allows him to raise funds for a campaign to replace outgoing county Supervisor Pam Slater-Price.

Roberts becomes the first Democrat to join the race and, if he wins, would be the first member of that party on the panel since at least 1995.

Steve Danon, chief of staff for Rep. Brian Bilbray, R-Solana Beach, declared his candidacy long ago. U-T San Diego reported that another Republican, Del Mar Mayor Carl Hilliard, also plans to run.

According to his city biography, Roberts is vice president of government relations for the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, and previously headed up the health care unit at Science Applications International Corp.

A full-time Solana Beach resident since 1998, he was first elected to the City Council in 2004. He briefly ran for Bilbray's congressional seat before dropping out in 2009.
