Voter Tool Shows Which Issues Are Driving Local Elections

Find out what's trending as we head into the June 5 primaries.

The Equinox Center—a non-partisan, non-profit based in Encinitas—has just rolled out a voter tool that shows what key issues are driving some of our local elections.

The 2012 Election Priori-meter scans local media coverage to learn what’s trending as the June 5 primaries near. That information is then ranked accordingly on charts—and turned into word clouds, too. The goal is to give voters a concise birds-eye view of how each race is shaping up.

Jobs, pension and high-speed rail appear to be driving the District 3 County Supervisor election, according to the 2012 Election Priori-meter.

The Equinox Center has also developed a tool that allows voters to compare candidates side by side. You can review candidates for the San Diego mayoral race, the 52nd Congressional District, and the District 3 County Supervisor election. You can also find and a rundown of what candidates in several races have said on the record.

Thursday Patch will continue its coverage of the District 3 County Supervisor election with a series of Q&As with each candidate. We’ll also be bringing you coverage on the June 5 election night as results come in, so be sure to check back.
