Doing Your Taxes? Checking Your Refund? Use IRS.gov as Your Resource

Doing your taxes and need some ease and convenience? Check out all the options on IRS.gov.

Halfway into the 2013 tax filing season, the IRS is seeing a lot of volume on the phones, in local offices and online at http://www.irs.gov and that is expected around this time of year.

If you can use some ease and convenience when it comes to filing your taxes, however, then consider accessing IRS.gov first before you call or come see us.

One of our more convenient online options is our WHERE'S MY REFUND feature. This allows you to check the status of your tax refund from IRS.gov or from our IRS2Go app. While you are encouraged to use it, try to limit checking to only once per day as the system updates nightly.

The new video How to Use the Where's My Refund? Tool  offers in-depth information about how the redesigned “Where’s My Refund” tool on IRS.gov works. The IRS’s previous refund YouTube video When Will I Get My Refund? has already received more than 750,000 views.

The IRS issues more than nine out of 10 refunds to taxpayers in less than 21 days. Even though the IRS issues most refunds in less than 21 days, some tax returns will require additional review and take longer.

The recently released refund video is one of several YouTube videos the IRS created to help taxpayers navigate this year’s filing season. Other top videos that help people prepare their tax returns or resolve tax problems include:
