Torrey Pines High School rower and team win at important Long Beach Junior Invitational Regatta.

Rancho Santa Fe resident and Torrey Pines High student Harrison Schneider and his boatmates from the San Diego Rowing Club Junior Crew won third place in their JV4+ final event at the important Long Beach Junior Invitational Regatta over the April 21-22 weekend. Schneider, along with rowers Michael Wayne (Cathedral Catholic High), Derek Manske (Point Loma High), Daniel Sprague (La Costa Canyon High), and coxswain Cody Kitchener (Coronado High) powered their 40 ft long shell to victory over competing teams from California, Washington state, Arizona and Baja California. The boys are varsity rowers with the SDRC Junior Crew.

The San Diego Rowing Club, based at the Coggeshall Rowing Center on Mission Bay, was established in 1888 on San Diego Bay. The club has supported a junior crew since the 1970's. The Junior Crew has two young women's and two young men's squads for students from 7th through 12th grades. Rowers from 39 schools throughout San Diego County participate in the program, which runs from September to May. For more information on the SDRC Junior Crew and upcoming summer camps, contact Program Director Chris Callaghan at 858-352-8380 or www.sandiegorowing.org."
