Deadline for $5k Don Diego Scholarship Approaching
Past recipients say the sizable scholarship has enabled them to pursue their college and career dreams.
The April 1, 2013 deadline for Don Diego Scholarship Foundation applications for college scholarships is fast approaching.
Four $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to outstanding high school seniors throughout San Diego County who have participated in the San Diego County Fair and/or other activities associated with the Del Mar Fairgrounds.

Past recipients say the sizable scholarship has enabled them to pursue their college and career dreams. 2012 recipient RaeAnne vanTol confides, “I wouldn’t be at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo without Don Diego. My mom and I cried when I received the scholarship. With it, I can focus on my Animal Science studies, volunteer and pursue the many opportunities here. Thank you, Don Diego!”
The Don Diego Scholarship Foundation has awarded more than $575,000 in college scholarships and grants for agricultural education since 1985. The Foundation was named after Tom Hernandez, who served as the Fair’s goodwill ambassador from 1947-1984.
