A Refreshing Approach and to a Wonderful Experience

Come join us on August 28, 2012, 1:30 – 3:30 at the SD Botanic Garden, Ecke Building, 230 Quail Gardens Dr, Encinitas, CA  92024.  Share with internationally known artist, Paul Strahm who will be demonstrating his tried and true tips and tricks in the basis of plein air painting.

Using traditional approaches you will learn how to focus on the surrounding elements keeping it simple and overcoming the challenges while reaping rewards of, plein air.

Plein air painting is about leaving the four walls of your studio behind and experiencing painting and drawing in the landscape. The practice goes back for centuries but was truly made into an art form by the French Impressionists. Their desire to paint light and its changing, ephemeral qualities, coupled with the creation of transportable paint tubes and the box easel—the precursor to the plein air easels of today—allowed artists the freedom to paint “en plein air,” which is the French expression for “in the open air.”

So join us and experience the wonder of plein air painting wtth artists Paul Strahm.

Please RSVP to Sandy Heath, Programs Chair at   Sandy246@gmail.com.  You can also take a view of our artist Paul Strahm at his website at www.PaulStrahmPaintings.com.

The public deserves an objective, unemotional, factual public debate on this proposition. So far IRead More am still leaning toward a yes vote, but I am keeping an open mind at least through this month.

Batman, are you implying that with more male dominance in the home alcoholism is less likely.
Batman May 23, 2013 at 08:15 pm
That may very well have been part of it. Grandma had an affinity for liquor as well, but grandpaRead More hated alcohol with a passion and wouldn't allow a single drop of it in the house. Sometimes the man's leadership is essential.

Aunt Judy was probably a very lonely person and turned to comfort in a bottle. What a darn shame.
