Jemison, Stewart Earn Player of the Year Honors

Breana Jemison of Carlsbad High and Kendyl Stewart of La Costa Canyon High were named athletes of the year in their respective sports on the 2001 spring All-CIF teams chosen by a panel of media members under the auspices of the San Diego Hall of Champions.

Jemison, a junior, won the title in the shot put at the state track and field championships earlier this month with a toss of 43 feet, 1 1/4 inches.

Stewart, also a junior, won the 100 freestyle and the 100 backstroke at the CIF San Diego Section Division I girls swimming and diving championships.
