La Costa Canyon Juniors will Row in San Diego Crew Classic

Three local students will compete this weekend.

The San Diego Rowing Club's men’s and women's rowing teams return to action this weekend on our home course to compete in the 39rd Annual San Diego Crew Classic, March 31 and April 1 on the pristine waters of Mission Bay.SDRC has entered 7 Juniors boats and 9 Masters boats in the prestigious two-day regatta, which commences next Saturday at 7:30 a.m.  

From its modest beginning almost four decades ago in 1973, the San Diego Crew Classic has matured into the largest regatta on the West Coast.  This two-day, nationally acclaimed regatta consists of 100 races with more than 3,400 athletes from the premier college programs and best rowing clubs from across the country. Thousands of spectators watch the races on the popular Jumbotron, and more watch the races live via a streaming webcast or the national broadcast found on ESPNU. 

SDRC has a number of local athletes participating in this weekend's prestigious regatta including, Parker Fuegue, Daniel Sprague and Gage Stout from La Costa Canyon High School.

The San Diego Crew Classic is living up to its name as America’s Premier Spring Regatta. San Diegans can be proud of the strong influence the regatta has had nationally and locally on the sport of rowing.
