Sailor to Discuss 'Great Pacific Garbage Patch' at Paul Ecke Central

Capt. Charles Moore will talk about his research and his vision of a global environment in the school's auditorium at 7 p.m. Friday.

Capt. Charles Moore, one of the world's leading authorities on ocean pollution and founder of the Algalita Marine Research Foundation (AMRF), will speak at Paul Ecke Central Elementary School Friday night.

Moore has made numerous research voyages to the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre, where he studied the Great Pacific Garbage Patch, a large region known for its vast accumulation of plastic trash.  His research has resulted in several internationally recognized publications as well as data and educational programs.

Moore will discuss his research as well as his vision of a global environment in the school’s auditorium at 7 p.m.  The presentation is offered as part of Paul Ecke Central’s MARE Oceans Study program.
