Vista Edges Carlsbad; LCC Advances in Playoffs

The CIF San Diego Section football playoff picture is coming into focus, with the quarterfinals producing some tight games in North County Friday night to set up Thursday's semis, the last step before a stop at Qualcomm Stadium for the Dec. 5 championship games.

In Division II, second-seeded La Costa Canyon (9-2) won its eighth straight, edging Westview 13-6 to earn a home game against third-seeded Oceanside (8-2-1), which squeaked by Valhalla 31-28. LCC beat the Pirates 21-16 in Oceanside on Oct. 28.

In Division I, third-seeded Vista (6-5) needed two overtimes to edge Carlsbad 31-28, ending the Lancers' season at 7-5.
