Padres to Celebrate 10th Anniversary of Petco Park Tuesday

Although it is their second regular-season game, the Padres are dubbing their first day game of the season as opening day, with a ceremony beginning at approximately 3:10 p.m.

The San Diego Padres will celebrate the 10th anniversary of Petco Park at Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, which will also include a pregame "opening day" ceremony.

The ceremonial first pitch will be thrown by David Wells, who threw the first pitch at Petco Park when it opened, and two of his teammates from the 2004 Padres -- Brian Giles, who had the first hit at the stadium, and Mark Loretta, who hit the team's first home run there.

The national anthem will be performed by 16-year-old Timyra-Joi Beatty, a San Diego native who competed on the fifth season of the NBC singing competition "The Voice."

The team is encouraging fans to utilize public transportation or pre- purchase parking passes, arrive early and be in their seats by 3 p.m. Park at the Park Gates will open at 1 p.m. and all other gates at 1:30 p.m.

Padres parking lots are expected to fill two hours before the 3:40 p.m. first pitch. Fans are encouraged to park along Harbor Drive at Convention Center garages and utilize the pedestrian bridge.

Extra Green Line trains will depart Qualcomm Stadium toward Petco Park from 2-3 p.m. and Mission Valley stations. A special North County Transit District Padres Coaster train will depart from Oceanside Station at 1:51 p.m. with the fare including a free trolley connection.

Service will also be added on the Green Line after the game. There will also be more frequent service on the Blue Line before and after the game and on the Orange Line after the game.
