Encinitas Surf Report & Forecast: Nov. 8-9

Clean, backing off 2-3 footers.

It's not as peaky and unpredictable as yesterday but today looks like it's a tad bit smaller; with the lower tide, though, there could be some fun pop-up peaks. Beach breaks might have some good punch to offer as well.

Conditions are calm and clear and should remain so at least until late afternoon when NW winds will pick up slightly.

Tide is draining from a dawn patrol high of over 5 feet. Morning sessions will coincide with a very high tide for the next few days with a full moon approaching Thursday.

Low tide this afternoon: 2:00 p.m. at just over the 0-foot marker. Evening high is at 8:00 at 4 feet.

Water temp is 59-60 but with the sunshine it doesn't feel that cold, at least not after a couple of minutes.

Sunset tonight: 4:52 p.m.

Look for fun, occasional chest-high surf later today.

For tomorrow, Wednesday the 9th, weak SW swell moves in and waves are predicted to be only about waist-high max. Winds should be light and weather clear.
