Get Ready to Delight in the Funky: LeucadiART Walk Slated for Sunday

Sunday you’ll likely spot a couple of those kitschy "magic" double-decker buses cruising down Coast Highway 101—a sure sign that the is upon us yet again.

Arguably, no other event showcases the community’s funky, artistic vibe in all its glory. Stroll down the west side of the street and you’re treated to a kaleidoscope of art, music, food and local flavor.

As you walk the mile stretch, checkout the art demos along the way and chat-up some of our homegrown talent about their work. If you have kids in tow, there’ll be plenty of activities to keep them busy—and for all you grown folk, did we mention there’s a beer garden near Daphne Street? That’ll cost you some cash, though.

There will also be several local musical acts throughout the day, including: The Blue Moonies, So*Cal Vibes Semisi & Fula Bula, Ben Powell, Kainga Music (Steel Drum School), Encinitas School of Music, Peter Hall Jenk's Band, Todd Day Wait's Pigpen, Thieves of the American Dream, Yovee and Julie Cowley.

To find out what’s happening where during the event make sure you pickup one of the collectible, retro-inspired maps. That will give you all the information you need to navigate your way through the fun—and you can also preview a map online before you go.

The public is encouraged to use the Encinitas Civic Center for parking—and you can hitch a free ride on one of those double-decker buses along Coast Highway 101 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (see the map for bus stop locations). With about 3,500 people expected to turnout, you may want to consider carpooling or riding your bicycle. And luckily, Sunday’s weather forecast calls for good conditions, a comfortable 72 degrees and partly cloudy.
