Encinitas Volunteers Needed for Coastal Cleanup Day

Online volunteer registration is now open for Coastal Cleanup Day 2012, which is scheduled for Sept. 15 across 80 coastal and inland sites in San Diego.

Each year, hundreds of tons of garbage end up on the beaches and in our waterways after travelling through San Diego’s vast watershed system, according to I Love A Clean San Diego. Help clean up the trash. Sign up to volunteer at Coastal Cleanup Day 2012 on Sept. 15 from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers are needed at more than 80 sites across San Diego County, including some here in Encinitas.

Coastal Cleanup Day is part of a statewide and international cleanup efforts. It is estimated that 9 million volunteers have participated in Coastal Cleanup Day nationally and internationally in the last 25 years.

Volunteers can be any age. Please bring your own reusable cleanup supplies such as gardening gloves and buckets to collect trash. Sign up online at cleanupday.org. For more information about where to meet at each Encinitas cleanup site listed below, simply click on the name.
