The recent Halloween event at San Elijo State Beach brought in $9,500 in drawing ticket sales and sponsorships for the Friends of Cardiff & Carlsbad State Beaches. “The generous sponsors were a who’s who of local Cardiff and Encinitas businesses,” said Bill Mahoney, founding board member of Friends of Cardiff & Carlsbad State Beaches or FCCSB (see sponsors list at the bottom).
“Donations from the proceeds of ‘San Elijo Spooktacular’ will enable our non-profit to provide free family events, help the children’s education efforts at the local beaches and improve the facilities and family programs at the local California State parks,” he added.
Meanwhile, the organization is looking to add two board members to its non-profit volunteer board, as well as seeking people interested in volunteering on improvement projects at the local state parks. Interested parties should call Mahoney at 858-603-2705 or email Bill@FCCSB.org
The FCCSB’s other fundraiser, called “Christmas in July” at South Carlsbad State Beach last summer, brought in $13,000 in proceeds. That will also be spent on improvements to beaches from Cardiff to Carlsbad, as well as to fund children’s education efforts and free family events.
