Music in the Street, Concerts and Bodysurfing This Weekend

You made it to the weekend, now what? Patch found your North County weekend events happening Aug. 16-18.

School is right around the corner and there is still time to have some summer fun! 

Groove to jazz music, catch bodysurfers hit the waves or enjoy a summer concert by the beach.

TGIF JAZZ IN THE PARKS

  • What's Up: Start your weekend off with jazz, dancing and family friendly fun. This week's concert will feature the soul band, The Styletones. 
  • When: 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16.
  • Where: Calavera Hills Park, 2997 Glasgow Dr., Carlsbad.
  • Price: Free.
37TH WORLD BODYSURFING CHAMPIONSHIPS
  • What's Up: Hundreds of bodysurfers from all over the world will be in Oceanside. The Annual Bodysurfing Championships will feature competitions, vendors and more. 
  • When: 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17 & Sunday, Aug. 18.
  • Where: Oceanside Pier Beach, Oceanside.
MUSIC IN THE STREET
  • What's Up: The Third Annual Skate and Music Festival will kick off with live music, professional skaters, demonstrations and more. 
  • When: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17. 
  • Where: Paul Ecke Sports Park, 200 Saxony Rd., Encinitas.
  • Price: $15-$20.
SUMMER SUNDAY CONCERTS BY THE SEA
  • What's Up: Summer Sunday Concerts by the Sea will present Charlie Imes and the Hodad Surf Club.
  • When: 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18. 
  • Where: Moonlight Beach, 400 B St., Encinitas.
  • Price: Free.
HERITAGE PARK SUMMER CONCERT SERIES
  • What's Up: Are you a musician? Come perform at the Summer Concert Series. The Sunday Concert will host an open mic. 
  • When: 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18.  
  • Where: Heritage Park, 220 Peyri Dr., Oceanside, CA 
  • Price: Free.
