The following is from the City of Encinitas
Over the past 21 years, thousands of people of all ages and skill levels have enjoyed the City of Encinitas’ annual 5K/1K race. Now, the City’s Parks and Recreation Department has combined the two races and what used to be known as the Feeling Fit Festival into one dynamic autumn event: the Moonlight Beach Fest. The event takes place at Moonlight Beach, 400 B Street, on October 12, 2013.
On event day, the parking lot will be closed. Street parking on Second and Third Streets will be off-limits. However, ample parking is available on Fourth Street south of E Street to I Street, at City Hall, the Encinitas Community Library, the Coaster Station and along Highway 101.
The 9 am 5K (3.1-mile) flat, fast, USA Track and Field-certified course begins and ends at the beach area, traversing downtown Encinitas. The 1K begins at 10 am. The races attract and accommodate both high-level racers and people just out for a good time.
Live music enhances the atmosphere for participants and spectators alike. Runners and walkers can enjoy free refreshments along the way.
Registration is available in advance and on the day of the event. Expo and race details, including registration, are here.
So lace up your walking/running shoes, grab your sunscreen and get ready to begin a new tradition by participating in what is certain to become an iconic Encinitas event. See you at the Moonlight Beach Fest!
