How cool to see the Patron Saint of Postcards on EncinitasPatch! I've been lucky to be Leah's friendRead More now for over a decade. The more you learn about this amazing artist, the more your jaw drops. I have several of her postcards for sale in the shop. I believe Darrel at Good Morning Cardiff does as well. She's also quite a video producer and you should check out her work on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOahu5XwuQA One of the postcards I carry is "Find Yourself in Oceanside" with some wild blonde with a shag haircut on the front.with downtown O'side's trademark palms.behind her. When she brought them in, I said "WHERE did you find HER?" To which she replied: "That's ME!" On the cause road, Leah has become a force to be reckoned with in her fight against GMO's and raising consciouness about that Frankenstein monster. And no one can channel Frida Kahlo better than Leah. So much so, her unibrow graced the cover of City Beat while she still lived her. I was also lucky enough to have the Frida's visitation one Halloween night at an event at Caldwell's Antiques that migrated to Swive Tackle Circus in O'side . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yxa_MKtEOqU Thanks Leah!!! ENJOY people.

Producer/Choir Master Sally Dean brought her first year group to the opening of a new elementaryRead More school in Carlsbad in 1992 at which I was attending a regional PTA get-together. I was so knocked out by both their sound, but also the complexity of some of the work the children were doing: very modern compositions and performances. I then asked Sally if her group would 'Open' an important PTA meeting at Park Dale Lane Elementary where I was the PTA President and she and the group wowed the families and parents at this yearly membership meeting. (Carly McColgan, Paula's daughter joined the group around then) I remember when Sally went to make an exit after the children and their parents had performed 3 songs including the modern piece that I had been bowled over by: I discreetly handed Sally a check from us to her group to try and do what our small school could do to help underwrite their visit to our school. Sally had been so surprised. She and the children consider it a labor of love, but someone has to pay for the gasoline! At another eveny, perhaps 1995, I asked Sally and the Singers to 'Open' an Encinitas State of The City Dinner at the new Community Center: they were incredible. Sally is Bill Dean's better half (Also a male PTA president for Encinitas) has also produced and directed musical theater and has been a literal godsend to so many families in Encinitas. Thank you, Sally! Congratulations on 20 incredible years!

Ken life is just so much fun in La Mesa! Last Saturday was very exciting with Dan Ackroyd and all usRead More fans standing in line to meet him. He was scheduled to stay to 1 PM but with so many fans Dan stayed until 2:30PM just to make sure everyone had the chance to say hello and have a picture taken with him. Two words to describe Dan Ackroyd; gracious and welcoming, the same today as the first time I met him 25 years ago. Oh and yes he signed my baseball hat. La Mesa we are the jewel of the hills.

I first swam in the Pacific Ocean in late summer of 45, Rode the bus for 4 hours to get grom where IRead More lived to Hunington Beach to spend the day and did so often till we moved to San Diego in 48, I had come home, Riding the bus at first to Mission Beach at first then I discovered La Jolla, Truely the Jewel of this area. Making my first compressed air dive in 51, I had found a life calling. Joining the Corps at 17 and spending the next 6 or so Years all over the Pacific I got a chance to see a lot of magical dive sites, Japan, The Phillippines, Hawaii, Midway island, Life is not long enough for one person to see it all. I continued to dive into my 60's till I had an accident which ended my diving life, I really miss it but life goes on. This was a wonderful item Serge I enjoyed it a lot and it brought back many memories

I like the Port Theater, too. I recently tried the luxury theater in Laguna NiguelRead More -Cinépolis- it was awesome, you kick back in a luxury recliner and press a button to have a server bring you munchies or cocktails. I understand another one just opened up in Rancho Santa Margarita: http://ranchosantamargarita.patch.com/articles/it-s-showtime-at-cin-polis

What disgusting excuses for human beings....to drop that show without ANY regard for the performersRead More OR even the horses????? The entire farce was just to give the trophy wife something to do. ANYBODY can ride a horse around in circles. How LAME to open at the same time as Cavalia....shame on you....move to another country and stop behaving like losers.

I saw Valitar and I have to agree with Mr. Zatkow. Tatyana Remley was the most out of placeRead More individual in the entire show. Literally EVERYONE else was in for the spirit of the show and they did amazing and entertaining performances. Remley, however just pranced around on a horse with a serious case of "Look at me" that was a real turn off. At least twice she came out doing essentially the same thing and it sort of turned my stomach it was so obvious. It had "I wanna be int the show" written all over it. Kudos to the rest of the cast for putting up with that garbage - you are all better people than I 'cause I would have expressed my opinion and then left as did many so I read.
