Kyle grew up in the countryside about twenty minutes outside of Rio Vista Calif., a small town located on the banks of the Sacramento river. After graduating from Rio Vista High, Kyle attended Solano Community College, and transferred to Point Loma Nazarene University and declared writing as his major.

After taking Intro to Journalism in the spring of 2010, Kyle realized his passion for storytelling through the form of print media could translate into some kind of career.

His passion for journalism was solidified after taking an editing course taught by Dale Fetherling, the former The Times’ San Diego Edition editor. Fetherling’s passion for the story and the necessity of an editor to make pieces “just sing” inspired this writing student to take his prose to the next level. Sadly, this gifted professor passed away on the first week of the 2011 spring semester. And at Feathering’s funeral, Kyle saw how one man can positively change the lives of many through this journalism and being apart of a journalism team.

Kyle was on the Point Weekly staff, where was a staff writer and the web editor. In the spring of 2011, Kyle interned at San Diego Newsroom, an on-line newspaper covering city politics.

After graduating in the spring of 2011, Kyle moved to Encinitas and has enjoyed the beach town atmosphere, the relaxed mentality and continuing to see the ocean every day.
