Take a Look Inside Surfing Law Firm's 'Board Room'

Encinitas residents tend to feel pretty lucky to live in paradise. Even more fortunate is the staff of Coast Law Group, which makes the outdoors part of the company culture. 

Last week, Patch reported how Outside magazine ranked the law firm No. 23 on its top 100 places to work list. It was the firm's second time on the list and the surfing lawyers' "board room" got a special mention: "At this law firm, which is within walking distance of the coast, the surfboard-stuffed gear room gets utilized as much as the conference room," the magazine wrote. 

In the video above, Partner Aran Wong shows Patch the room and discusses the firm's efforts to promote fitness, the outdoors and environmentalism. 

The walls are lined with ocean-inspired art (made in-house); some employees use stand-up desks; and the business has electric bicycles employees can use. 

"When you get to a part of the ride where you would normally start sweating, you can just turn on the battery and it helps you go out the hill and it helps you get back to work and you can plug it right back in as soon as you're done," he said. 

Also making Outside's list this year was The Grauer School, which made No. 10.
