Community Corner

Please Vote June 18th and Vote No on A

Tomorrow, June 18, there is a Special Election on Prop A.  DEMA hopes you will join us in voting NO on this initiative.  We believe it's critical to the future of our city.

We have studied this matter carefully and have concluded that Prop A would impede our efforts to preserve and enhance our downtown.  You'll find a detailed explanation of our position on our website:  http://www.encinitas101.com

We would encourage you, and all voters, to read the proposition itself, and the expert analyses and arguments found here:  http://www.encinitasca.gov/index.aspx?page=119

The supporters of this proposition clearly intended to limit development and preserve our community's character, and you may agree those are worthy goals.  However, we are not voting on what they intended, but on what is actually written in the proposition.  And as written, some unintended consequences are actually the opposite of the authors' desires.

Many other organizations are opposed to Prop A, including our sister main streets, Leucadia 101 and Cardiff 101, the Encinitas Preservation Association, the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce and the San Diego Taxpayers Association.  So is every member of our City Council.  If you would like to be even more informed, we suggest you read the opinions of our City Council members.

Thanks for your consideration.  Please vote tomorrow!  Also, please remind your Encinitas friends.
