Our feature on people who live or work in Encinitas focuses this week on one of our dedicated community event planners.
If you’ve ever attended an event put on by the or chances are you’ve encountered the smiling face and boundless energy of Tess Radmill. Born and raised here, Radmill has been splitting her time between the two groups since 2008, serving as program manager at Cardiff 101 Main Street and marketing coordinator for the Downtown Encinitas Mainstreet Association. The 26-year-old says she loves organizing community events throughout the year, so we asked her to share her thoughts about Encinitas.

IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE THING ABOUT THE TOWN, WHAT WOULD IT BE: I would love to see farmers’ markets in all five communities on five different days of the week. Also, Encinitas needs more bike paths along Coast Highway and Vulcan/San Elijo Avenue.
FAVORITE CIVIC ORGANIZATION: Cardiff 101 Main Street. In the past three years the organization has grown tremendously. Theon July 2 really celebrated what Cardiff is all about — I think was a shining moment for the town.
DESCRIBE ENCINITAS IN ONE SENTENCE: Encinitas is a truly magnetic place with a dynamic and bustling coastal corridor.
Hole in One for Local Schools
School hasn’t started yet, but sign-ups for the golf tournament benefitting the Encinitas Educational Foundation have begun. Fore the Kids takes place starting at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 11 at the Crosby Club in Rancho Santa Fe, and includes a shotgun scramble start tourney, a putting contest, lunch, a cocktail reception, dinner, and an auction. Every Dog Has its Day
The annual is around the corner — the sixth annual event takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 13 at Aberdeen Drive and Newcastle Avenue. The free festival includes more than 120 vendors, a silent auction, a demonstration by trainer Melissa Heeter and the Purina Incredible Dog Team, a blessing of the animals ceremony, and plenty of fun contests for dogs.
