Rimel's Rotisserie: A Review

Green Chili-Garlic Sauce - Oh, how I love thee!

Green chili-garlic sauce – Oh, how I love thee!

I pride myself on being able to eat pretty bland food and actually enjoy it. Odd? Yes, but with a slight gluten intolerance and an unusual love for vegetables, you learn to adjust.

However, after hearing such wonderful things about not only the restaurant but the sauce, I just had to give  a try.

A cozy restaurant nestled in the center of Cardiff, Rimel’s has stolen my heart. Chicken, steak, tacos, tofu, local fish, and delicious savory sides all made fresh – it’s a healthy choice when you want to get out and have a nice affordable meal.

Coastal dining at its best – the moment you walk in to this chic yet casual café, the beachside aloofness takes over and you’re at ease.  The service is wonderful! With limited seating, they do a great job of accommodating everyone who walks in, whether you wait with a drink (which is common due to its size) or cozy up at the bar for front row seats to the kitchen and rotisserie rack.

The steaming rice bowl, actually served on a plate, is my dish of choice. Your protein, served atop a searing bed of rice and veggies, is sautéed in soy sauce and chicken broth. I order mine without the soy sauce…extra green sauce.

Ohhhh the green sauce. An explosion of citrusy lime, cilantro and chili. You can order it to accompany anything on their menu and I highly recommend that you do.  Just remember: Although you will want to – it’s really not socially acceptable to lick your plate in public.

The veggies are clean and crisp – the perfect utensil for sopping up that sauce.

The Guy ordered a half rotisserie chicken with a side of rice and beans. Simple, classic and delicious.

You know you’ve found something unique when you spend your Friday night debating where to eat, flip a coin, land on a restaurant, look at each other…..and pick Rimel’s instead.

Enjoy!
